Trent Kreegar found guilty of murdering Robert Huffman

A 28-year-old Indiana man was convicted of murdering his own grandfather by hitting the 67-year-old with a cinder block, throwing a steel wheelbarrow and stomping on the victim’s head.

A Delaware County jury deliberated just over five hours Friday before finding Trent D. Kreegar guilty of murder and aggravated assault in the horrific death of Robert Earl Huffman Jr. on Sept. 5, 2021, prosecutors said.

The date of Kreegar’s sentencing also happened to be the day his grandfather would have turned 69.

according to a press release from the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney for Delaware County, evidence at trial showed that Kreegar “hit his 67-year-old grandfather several times in the head with a blunt object, kicked him in the ribs, and stomped on his head.”

“Then, while the victim was prone, Kreegar picked up a steel wheelbarrow and threw it at the victim, fractured 25 ribs,” prosecutors said.
