PITTSBURGH (KDKA-TV) –  Have you filled your gas tank lately? There is just no relief at the pump these days and it doesn’t look like there will be any time soon. “Americans have cabin fever and we want to get out,” says Patrick De Haan who is the head of Petroleum Analysis at GasBuddy.com. The result is soaring demand and skyrocketing prices at the pump. “The new cheap is the old expensive,” he says. “We’ve been kind of at the same price for last several weeks, kind of stuck on the perch if you will. There’s no ledge, prices aren’t going to sink, and a lot of the reason for that is that so many Americans are hitting the road for the summer.” De Haan admits the prognosis is not encouraging. “We may eventually go up again in the weeks ahead,” he adds. “Oil prices are dancing around about $74 a barrel, that’s the highest level since 2018. Gas price is well over $3 and we may not go back under $3 until fall and that’s still an if as well.” “If,” he says, because of the unknown.

CHICAGO (CBS) —  Out-of-control violence and a looming hot holiday weekend have almost two dozen aldermen demanding answers from Chicago Police Supt. David Brown. On Wednesday, the city council scheduled a virtual special meeting on Friday at 11 a.m. to address the matter. As CBS 2 Political Investigator Dana Kozlov reported Tuesday night, the aldermen – 25 at last count – were ready to call for a special City Council meeting to get those answers. They believe the city is in a state of emergency. Many say such an appearance is long overdue. Last weekend, there were 74 shootings in Chicago and six people were victims of homicides. This all came as the often-violent Fourth of July weekend is on the horizon. (CBS) – The owner of a New Hampshire restaurant says the business will close permanently after it did not receive any federal relief in the most recent federal COVID-19 stimulus package. Owners of The Striker posted the news on Facebook , saying that Saturday will be the final day it will be in business. “It is with a heavy heart that we are making this post. We did not receive the federal relief grant from this last stimulus package set aside for restaurants. The funds were dispensed before our turn in line,” The Striker posted. BOSTON (CBS) — Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is opening his first restaurant in Boston. “Ramsay’s Kitchen” will open in late 2021 inside the Mandarin Oriental in the Back Bay. The 7,000 square-foot restaurant will be connected to Copley Place and the Prudential Center and include a bar, lounge, dining room, raw bar, private dining areas and a patio. The back bar will be designed to look like the Zakim bridge. And many people’s finances haven’t improved. Unemployment remains above pre-pandemic levels, and plenty of jobs have not returned. The federal eviction moratorium now extends through the end of July. But over half of all states are cutting off the federal unemployment bonus early. A fourth stimulus check would provide more government. But will we see it sometime in 2021? Chris Sununu’s Advisory Council on Diversity and Inclusion resigned Tuesday, saying his decision to sign a state budget that limits the discussion of systemic racism and other topics has derailed the work they were appointed to do. Membership for the BSA’s flagship Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA programs dropped from 1.97 million in 2019 to 1.12 million in 2020, a 43% plunge, according to figures provided to The Associated Press. Court records show membership has fallen further since then, to about 762,000. The Girl Scouts say their youth membership fell by nearly 30%, from about 1.4 million in 2019- 2020 to just over 1 million this year. PLYMOUTH (CBS) – A 19-year-old man who allegedly believed he was exorcising demons from his father before his death in a Duxbury pond has been ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation. Jack Callahan was ordered held without bail on a murder charge Tuesday in Plymouth District Court. Duxbury Police said Callahan’s mother called them around 2 a.m. Monday saying her son had just come home wet and told her his father was missing. The teen initially told officers that he and his father had stopped at Island Creek Pond in Crocker Park for a midnight swim, and his dad had gone under. Scott Callahan was pulled from Island Creek Pond in Duxbury early Monday. (WBZ-TV) First responders quickly found 57-year-old Scott Callahan at the bottom of the pond. They pulled him out and started CPR. He was then rushed to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth where he died.
