Walmart shoppers rush to the stores to find bargains under $5 as the chain takes on a big popular rival
WALMART has decided to take one of its competitors to war by offering bargains for less than $5 for shoppers looking to save money.
The retail giant has set up a clearance section in some stores that’s crammed with great items — similar to Target’s Dollar Spot.
Americans are tightening their belts as prices soar, prompting Walmart to adapt and offer more budget buys.
Customers can find cute trinkets, food containers, crafts, and household essentials with generous discounts.
Shopper Jeantel Carter shared her experience with the new Dollar Shop in a TikTok video at her local Las Vegas Walmart.
She said she’s “so excited” to scour the aisles for inexpensive items — and that the store could be stiff competition for Target.
The video showed shelves crammed with a wide range of products perfect for those on a tight budget.
An enthusiastic Jeantel said, “Walmart wants to break Target’s neck in dollar space!”
“Not many Walmarts have this in their stores yet, but there are a few. I found one near me in Las Vegas where I live and I was so excited to check it out.
“They had the cutest mugs, food containers, the cutest little tote bags, and lots of great decorative items for the kids.”
She showed up as she looked at an array of kitchen essentials and adorable decor pieces for the whole house.
Jeantel continued: “They had great items that are seasonal, especially for the upcoming Easter holidays.
“I just can’t believe how many cute things they had for under $5. So what did you see, what did you like, what do you get?”
Dubbing it the Walmart Dollar Shop, the shopper’s clip caused a stir online as Target fans defended the store’s bargains.
One person branded Walmart’s discount division as “junk” compared to its retail competitor.
But most people were happy to have another place to look for cheap goodies that cost less than $5.

Ariane usually shops at Aldi but just couldn’t resist checking out the deals.
