Deposed Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi sentenced to 4 years in prison

 Myanmar’s ousted leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, has been sentenced to four years in prison.

The Nobel laureate, 76, has been found guilty of incitement and violating Covid rules, according to a legal official with knowledge of the case.

She is facing a series of charges after she was barred from starting a second term when the military took power on February 1.

Many argue that the legal proceedings are intended to discredit her and prevent her from running in the next election.

The legal official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of fear of retribution, said Suu Kyi received two years in prison for each charge.

Budget 2023 expected to unveil renters’ credit and third-level fee cut

 A tax credit for renters and double benefits are among the measures expected in the 2023 Budget, which is formally presented in the Chamber of Parliament of Ireland at 1pm on Tuesday. n one of Ireland’s biggest budgets in years, the coalition government is under pressure to strike the right balance as energy, fuel, food and housing bills skyrocket. One measure to be announced has already been described as a “serious disappointment”. New York subway workers ignored ‘bloody’ attack: lawsuit

  A Brooklyn man claims a confused stranger loosened his front teeth during a random scuffle on a Village F-Bahn platform – and transit workers did nothing to intervene, according to a lawsuit. Bret Mahrer, 29, was minding his business on the northbound train as he pulled into the West 14th Street/6th Avenue station when he noticed a stranger “looking intently at him” and “mouthing something,” according to court records. When the train doors opened, the man started to leave, but suddenly turned and punched Mahrer in the face as he was standing on the train. “Everything happened in a millisecond. He just hit me so hard,” Mahrer said. “He idiot hit me.
